A woman who was reportedly driving on the rim of one of her tires was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police say this is the woman’s second DUI offense, and she is also facing charges for transporting an open container, operating a car with defective tires and driving without a driver’s license in her possession. Her bail was set at $2,000.
The Oklahoma police officers who initiated the traffic stop said that they heard the car approaching before they saw it. The 28-year-old woman behind the wheel then drove past the police officers on the rimmed tire, at which point they pulled the driver over. She allegedly admitted to having two shots of tequila and then performed poorly during a Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Police say they also found a cup containing a margarita inside her vehicle.
A Breathalyzer test registered her blood-alcohol content as .21, which is nearly three times that of the .08 legal limit. Police also noted that the woman’s vehicle had damage to its front end, but were unsure whether the damage was recent or how she ended up driving on the rim of her tire. As the investigation continues it is possible that police will file additional charges for a hit-and-run accident.
